LAX layovers are ruled by traffic and terminal logistics. A short ride on the map can still become a long wait at the curb, so build the trip around one close destination.
What to do with bags
LAX's FAQ says electronic lockers and oversize item storage are no longer available. Check the airport tenant directory for baggage-service alternatives, or ask your airline whether early bag check is possible.
Leaving the airport
Venice, Playa Vista, Manhattan Beach, and airport hotels are more realistic than Hollywood or downtown for most layovers. Use rideshare pickup timing in the planner rather than only drive time.
Getting back through security
Have your onward boarding pass and acceptable ID ready. Return earlier than the math suggests; LAX curb, terminal, and checkpoint time can be the part that bites.
